Essential oils are made of over a hundred chemical components on average. In general, essential oils are classified as functional groups, including alcohol, aldehydes, coumarins, esters, ethers, ketones, lactones, terpenes, phenols, phenyl, methyl ethers, terpenes, and oxides.
